7 Best Strollers For Disney in 2023 – Size Compliant Single & Double Strollers

a family with a single and double stroller in Disney World

A reliable stroller is probably number one on your packing list if you’re planning a vacation to Disneyland or Walt Disney World with toddlers or young children. There are so many advantages to taking a stroller with you on your Disney vacation.

They’re a life-saver when your toddler needs to zonk out from too much running around (and a few too many churros). Even if your bub spends most of their time on their feet, it’s such a relief to be able to unload items like jackets, diaper bags, and water bottles instead of carrying them for miles walking.

There are seemingly endless options when it comes to deciding on the best stroller for Disney, so our team has done all the legwork for you. We’ve dug deep to find the best stroller for theme parks and travel to make your Disney vacation one to remember.

What to look for in a suitable Disney stroller

Weโ€™ve previously researched the best ultra-light models of strollers for travelling, but not all of them are suitable for Disney theme parks. So letโ€™s take a look at the most recent stroller guidelines for Disneyland and Disney World and what stroller options will work well for different families.

Stroller Size Requirements for Disneyland and Disney World

Disneyland and Disney World have recently updated their stroller measurement guidelines, much to parents’ dismay.

As of May 01, 2019, all strollers must measure no more than 31 inches wide by 52 inches long (79cm x 132cm). This eliminates many different styles of jumbo strollers and larger single strollers. In addition to these new guidelines, all Disney theme parks now prohibit all stroller wagons from entering the park.

While the new Disney stroller measurements might seem restricting, plenty of great choices exist for any family size. We would say that most stroller brands in the U.S. have models that fall within these guidelines, and we’ve gathered our favorite picks for you below.

Do I Even Need a Stroller for Disney?

Yes! Aside from our own personal experience, many Globetrotter moms swear by taking strollers to Disney World or Disneyland (in fact, any theme park) because the benefits vastly outweigh the drawbacks. A stroller allows you to:

  • Give your child a break from the endless miles of walking
  • Provide shade and a comfortable place to nap
  • Have a convenient location for your child to eat if alternative seating isnโ€™t available
  • Store your familyโ€™s essentials instead of having to carry them

While you will be required to fold your stroller temporarily while travelling on trams and escalators, these instances are manageable and short-lived.

You will find even if your child or children no longer require a stroller for “everyday outings”, theme parks are a different beast (we discuss some stroller alternatives for everyday use over here).

Styles of Strollers That Work Well at Disney

Single vs. Double

If you’re only taking one child along with you to Disney, a single stroller is an obvious choice. But what about a baby and a toddler? Or more than two young children? You have several different options, which comes down to what works best for your family. Depending on your needs, you could bring or rent two single strollers or a single and double stroller.

Our advice is to be as minimalist as possible. For example, many double strollers for Disney can hold both an infant car seat and another child, which frees up one adult to run interference (and ask for directions).

Collapsible  vs. Umbrella

When it comes to deciding on the best stroller for Disney, you also have to think about how easily you can fold, carry, and store the stroller while traveling or in restricted areas. Many of the more compact, lightweight travel strollers are collapsible and can even be folded in half, excellent for when you need to quickly jump on Disney Transportation. We’ve always preferred strollers with a one-handed release because we hardly ever had both hands free!

You could also go with an umbrella stroller, which is the most minimalist option available. Umbrella strollers typically don’t have much storage space. They lack many of the amenities more traditional options have (cup holders, reclining seats, etc.). However, they are incredibly lightweight, and you can fold them quickly and easily.

Newborns vs. Toddlers

Your child’s age is also a determining factor when deciding on a Disney stroller. If you’re taking a newborn or infant to the theme park, the safest option would be to transport them in their car seat. This means that the stroller you choose will need to have a travel system option. Thankfully, you can typically purchase a universal car seat adapter for many different stroller models.

If you have a toddler, features like a sippy cup holder, padded and adjustable seats, and a large canopy are preferable. As we mentioned earlier, your toddler’s seemingly endless energy will fizzle out more than once during the day, and they need a comfortable place to nap and relax – for everyone’s sake!

More Than Two Kids

If you’re planning on bringing more than two young children with you to Disneyland or Disney World, you might consider multiple strollers or simply rotate who gets to ride in the stroller throughout the day. If you have a baby and older kids, you can also wear them in a baby carrier when everyone must take a lie-down and rest their legs (and eyes).

Rental Stroller vs Bringing Your Own to Disney

Of course, you can rent a stroller instead of bringing your own stroller. This is particularly handy if you’ve already done away with you “at home” stroller, or if you don’t want it taking up room in your car or airplane check-in allowance for the journey.

Both Disneyland and Disney World offer stroller rentals, and you can also rent from third-party companies for the length of your stay. Here are the current rates for both Disney World and Disneyland stroller rentals in 2023:

Disney World Stroller Rental Rates

  • Single Stroller (50 lbs or less): $15/day or $13/multi-day
  • Double Stroller (100 lbs or less): $31/day or $27/multi-day

Disneyland Stroller Rental Rates

  • Single Stroller: $18/day
  • Double Stroller: $36/day

Benefits of renting from other companies

The costs of renting a stroller from Disney can add to an already hefty vacation price tag, so you might want to consider renting from a third-party company.

Most independent stroller rental companies are less expensive than Disney. They usually have a broader selection to choose from. Additionally, you can have your stroller delivered right to where you’re staying and rent one for as long as you wish, not just your theme park days.

Best Single Strollers For Disney

If you’ll be buying your own stroller for everyday use and use at Disney, these are our top recommended brands to try:

Best Overall Single Stroller for Disney: Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller

Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 All-Terrain Stroller, Opulent Black

The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 is one of the best travel strollers on the market, and the oversized UV 50+ canopy provides ample shade for sunny days while your child naps in the near-flat reclining seat with adjustable calf support.

You can easily make a travel system out of your compact stroller with the included infant car seat adaptors, and you can even add a glider board, making it easy for an older sibling to also climb on board. The City Mini stroller has the signature one-hand compact fold and auto-lock, perfect for those moments when you need to break your stroller down quickly.

The generous under-seat storage basket is large enough to carry all your essentials, and you can access items from the front and rear. Effortless pushing is a must with any Disney stroller, which is another standout feature of the City Mini GT2.

In addition, the front-wheel suspension provides superior shock absorption that gives both baby and parent the smoothest ride possible. We love that the seat capacity is up to 65lbs making it suitable your older children too.

  • Product Weight: 22.4 lbs
  • Max Child Weight: 65 lbs

The extra-large canopy will also protect your bub’s delicate skin from the hot summer sun.

Parents will enjoy the large storage basket and adjustable handlebars. The no-rethread harness makes adjustments a snap. There are also six additional storage pockets, including a cell phone pocket at the handlebar. The BOB Gear Revolution Flex can also accommodate most major brands of car seats.

Best Umbrella Stroller for Disney: Evezo 2141A Full-Size Ultra Lightweight Umbrella Stroller

Evezo 2141A Full-Size Ultra Lightweight Umbrella Stroller, Reclining Seat, 5-Point Safety Harness, Canopy, Storage Bin (Sapphire Blue), 214-1A

This is an excellent option if you’re looking for an ultra-lightweight umbrella stroller for Disney World or Disneyland. We chose it specifically for the extended canopy and one-hand easy recline so your bub can be as cool and comfortable as possible. In addition, the 3-position leg rest adjusts as your child grows so that you can use it for multiple visits.

The stroller weighs only 16 lbs and folds compactly for quick and easy storage. The under-seat cargo storage could be more generous but is large enough to hold bottled water, snacks, and other small items. In terms of maneuverability, the Evezo umbrella stroller is easy to steer and has a front collision safety bar for additional safety (which we love).

  • Product Weight: 16
  • Max Child Weight: 40
  • Product Dimensions: 39 x 16 inches x 22 inches
  • Folded Dimensions: 39 x 11 x 32 inches

Best Budget-Friendly Disney Stroller: Kolcraft – Cloud Plus Stroller

Kolcraft - Cloud Plus Lightweight Easy Fold Compact Travel Baby Stroller - Slate Grey

The Kolcraft Cloud Plus is a great stroller for Disney that’s dependable, easy to manoeuvre, and budget-friendly. The three-tier canopy extends for maximum UV protection. The seat reclines almost fully so your bub can take a snooze after a long days activity.

This stroller is also incredibly travel-friendly, weighing in at just 11.8 lbs. It has an easy one-hand, self-standing fold and all-terrain wheels with front suspension for a smooth ride. We also like the extra-large under-seat cargo area, and it comes with a removable child tray and a parent tray.

  • Product Weight: 11.8 lbs
  • Max Child Weight: 50 lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 31.25 x 18 x 39 inches
  • Folded Dimensions: 18โ€W x 12โ€D x 34โ€H
  • Travel System Option: No

  • Colours: Fire Red, Slate Gray
  • Canopy Coverage: 3-tier adjustable canopy
  • Storage: XL under-seat storage basket

A solid consideration if you don’t want to spend a fortune on a second stroller for travel, we feel the Kolcraft Cloud Plus fills a great gap in the market, being pocket-friendly but still packed with features and durable for a cheap umbrella stroller.

Best Double Strollers For Disney

If you’ve got two or more children under the age of five, we’d highly recommend using a double stroller for Disney. Even if your older child doesn’t usually need a stroller at home, remember theme parks are a different ball game.

It’s a good idea to have enough space for siblings to have a seat each (as well as that little extra space to use as a dumping ground fo everything you need on a day out at Disney!)

Best Compact Double Stroller for Disney: Mountain Buggy Nano Duo

Mountain Buggy Nano Duo Buggy, Black

Need a double stroller that takes up as little space as possible? The Mountain Buggy Nano Duo is exactly what you need. This compact double stroller became our go-to in our later years of traveling with small children. You most likely don’t need to push 2x children all day, but when you do, it’s a saviour!

We love that the lightweight design (just 20lbs) is easy to maneuver in tight spaces with a shoulder strap, and it’ll take up little space in your hotel room. You aren’t giving up much in comfort either with compact, 26″ seats allowing a deep recline and adjustable leg rest.

  • Product Weight: 20lbs
  • Max Child Weight: 33 lbs per seat
  • Product Dimensions: 39 x 28..7 x 33 inches
  • Folded Dimensions: 11″ x 28.7″ x 33″
  • Travel System Option: Yes, with an adaptor (extra)
  • Seat & Positions: Multi-position recline with adjustable 5-point harness
  • Colours: Black, Black and silver
  • Canopy Coverage: SPF 50, 3-tier adjustable canopy
  • Storage: Reasonable under-seat storage basket with 17.6lbs capacity

The only thing you may want to bear in mind is that the compacts have slightly smaller wheels than a full-sized double stroller, and the seats have a slightly lower weight capacity. For example, if you have older twins, you may prefer something more robust (see below!)

Best Tandem Stroller for Disney: Joovy Caboose Too Graphite Stand-On Tandem Stroller

Joovy Caboose Too Graphite Stand-On Tandem Stroller, Black

The Joovy Caboose Too Stand-On Tandem Stroller is Disney’s most compact and maneuverable full-size double stroller, so you don’t have to worry about struggling to steer through crowded areas. It’s travel system-ready to accommodate both toddler and infant car seats making this the best double stroller for a growing family. The extendable sun canopy provides shade for both front and rear riders.

Your older child can either sit on the built-in bench seat or stand on the platform, and the strong aluminum frame is sturdy enough to withstand miles of walking. The sealed bearing wheels allow you to push the stroller with one hand easily. You can easily store family essentials in the roomy under-seat cargo basket.

  • Product Weight: 27.5 lbs
  • Max Child Weight: 90 lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 38 x 21.25 x 42 inches
  • Folded Dimensions: 45.25 x 21.25 x 10
  • Travel System Option: Yes
  • Seat & Positions: Removable full rear seat, multi-position recline, 5-point harness
  • Colors: Black, Red

We had to include our favorite Disney-approved, side-by-side double jogging stroller because it really is one of the best doubles on the market. The BOB Gear Revolution Flex Duallie has everything you need to transport babies, toddlers, and even older children everywhere they want to go.

Despite its seemingly bulky size, the Bob Duallie IS Disney-approved! This is one of the best double strollers for Disney because it’s almost effortless to push, provides an incredibly smooth ride – even over rough terrain – and has plenty of storage for both yourself and your kids.

In addition, the adjustable handlebar works for all heights, and the 360-degree swiveling front wheel allows for optimal maneuverability.

  • Product Weight: 33.1 lbs
  • Max Child Weight: 100 lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 48 x 30.5 x 45 inches
  • Folded Dimensions: 38 x 25 x 16
  • Travel System Option: Yes
  • Seat & Positions: Infinite recline with 5-point no-rethread harnesses

Safety and Care Tips for Taking Your Stroller to Disney

While using strollers in Disney World or Disneyland is certainly beneficial, there are several things to consider regarding safety and handling. Here are a few valuable tips:

Your Stroller Needs to Be Folded on Buses, Trams, and In Certain Disney Facilities

If you choose to travel to Disney theme parks via bus or tram, be aware that you’ll need to empty and fold your stroller while in transit. Unless you’re a ritual minimalist, it can be a hassle to repeatedly load and unload your supplies while carrying hot and fussy small children.

No Need to Fold Strollers on the Ferry or Monorail

One of the largest benefits of staying at a monorail resort is that you don’t have to fold up your stroller while riding to the theme park. It certainly beats self-driving and the hassle of making parking arrangements.

Strollers Arenโ€™t Allowed in Restaurants

Unless restaurant staff makes an exception, you’ll have to leave your stroller outside of Disney dining facilities. Sometimes, if your child is sleeping, they will allow you to park them next to your table while you eat. However, that’s usually on a case-by-case basis.

Strollers Arenโ€™t Allowed in Ride Queues or Shows

Due to crowd control and safety reasons, you aren’t allowed to take your stroller with you in ride queues or performances. We recommend bringing a carrier along with you if you’re worried about your child growing tired of standing.

Attach a Lock to the Back Wheel of Your Stroller

Although stroller theft is rare at Disney theme parks, you should never leave valuable property unattended. You can purchase a lock that attaches to the back wheels while still allowing a Disney cast member to move it around the parking area.

Bring a Stroller Cover

Let’s be honest; it still rains, often, in the Sunshine State! Rain showers at Disney can be hard to predict, but it always pays to keep a rain cover for your stroller – this can be branded or look for cheaper universal stroller covers.

More Disney FAQ’s To Help You Plan Your Stroller Needs

Does a 7-year-old need a stroller for Disney?

This is a tricky one as it’s really quite personal to your family and your child’s needs. Many 7 years olds are simply too tall for a stroller, but when legs tire, big kids are still undoubtedly grateful for having a seat!

In our opinion, unless your child has a medical issue, they should be competent from 6 years old to walk by themselves for a whole day at Disney; though, do work in seated breaks during your day (queuing is not a break on the legs!) and appreciate that they can’t keep up the same pace as tweens through to adults.

Not all 7-year-olds are the same. You do not know a family’s story or a child’s special needs, so if you do see a larger child using a stroller at Disney, it’s not your place to judge.

Can you bring your own stroller to Disney?

Yes, as long as your stroller is Disney-size compliant within their stroller policy, you can bring your own stroller to Disney.

Does my Disney Stroller need to be collapsible?

This will depend on what mode of transport you are using to get to the Disney parks. If you are going from the car parks to the main entrance of the parks, you may need to collapsible your stroller in order to use Disney transportation. Alternatively, you can avoid needing to collapse your stroller by staying at a Disney resort on the Monorail.
