Family friendly things to do in Singapore

Here’s how to fit them all in with our 5-day Singapore Itinerary for Families.

Visit Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bayย has become one of the most recognizable attractions in Singapore. This nature park, built on reclaimed land, has different zones. The most popular is the Supertree Grove, which consists of gigantic tree-like structures that serve as vertical gardens.

There are also climate-controlled conservatories, the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. While the structures look great during the day, they become otherworldly when the lights turn on at night. You may want to visit an hour or so before the sun sets to experience the best of both worlds.

Go to the Singapore Discovery Centre

Singapore has become a leader in edutainment in recent years. The Singapore Discovery Centre is proof of that. The entire building contains multiple exhibits that seek to educate and entertain people.

One of the exhibits in the Discovery Centre interactively tells the country’s recent history. It features theatre performances, interactive quizzes, and a “future” exhibit. The centre also includes the Crisis Simulation Theatre, the Harmony Circle, and a mock television studio.

Check into KidZania

If your kids are still below ten years old, they will love a stop at KidZania. This massive complex plays host to entertainment attractions seeking to educate young children.

It is designed like an actual kid-sized city where children can take on roles like a nurse, a banker, or an engineer. There are eighty role-play activities in KidZania Singapore.

Explore the Marina Bay Sands

The Marina Bay Sands may be famous for its public cantilevered platform at the top of the three supporting structures, but it offers way more than that. The large Ferris wheel Singapore Flyerย offers a scenic high-altitude view of the city beneath.

The Marina Bay Sands also has swimming pools, shops, hotels and theatre facilities.

Stick around until after dark to see Spectra – A Light & Water Show. You can watch this from up close on the plaza or take the opportunity to enjoy a river cruise on Marina Bay Waterfront (the 7:30 slot will be the perfect time to see the 8 pm show).

Stop by the ArtScience Museum

The first thing that you notice about ArtScience Museumย is the gorgeous building it is housed in. Designed like a lotus flower, the entire museum has 21 gallery spaces with both permanent and touring exhibitions displayed.

But more than that, the entire family will be fascinated by the exhibits from the fields of media, architecture, design, and technology. This is a superb spot to take some pictures both of the city and of the incredible displays inside. The permanent exhibit that draws families in is Future World, a collaboration with teamLab.

Go on a night safari

If you think that you cannot experience a safari in an urban jungle like Singapore, think again. The Singapore Night Safari is one of the worldโ€™s best facilities of its kind. Your kids will be able to enjoy the sight of animals roaming around in their natural environments.

There are also walking trails in the safari, where you can set out to see the 1,000 animals in the entire attraction. See ticket options on Viator.

Spend a day at the Universal Studios Singapore

Another great highlight located on the resort island of Sentosa, Universal Studios Singapore is among the most visited attractions in the country. The theme park houses a total of 28 rides and attractions that have been neatly organized into seven zones. Due to the multiple entertainment options in the whole theme park, the family can spend an entire day here.

Start your visit by strolling through Hollywood Boulevard. The famed avenue in California has been recreated perfectly, so you would think that you are in America. This is also where you will most likely be doing your shopping.

Another zone that is a must on your list is The Lost World. Based on the cinematic universes established in the movies Jurassic Park and Waterworld, it features lots of rides and shows. Older kids and thrill-seekers will want to focus on Sci-Fi City with Transformers The Ride and Battlestar Galactica big draw cards.
